Football betting rules at Nana Bet
These Nana Bet football betting rules explain how football bet settlement works, including match results, extra time, penalties and interrupted matches. They are intended to help adult players understand football betting rules in Ethiopia before placing a bet.
Nana Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. Before betting, check the market name, time period, match status and any special conditions in your bet slip. Where a specific market differs from this general guide, the conditions shown for that market take priority, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.
Do not assume that “full time” includes extra time or a penalty shootout. Check exactly which period your selection covers.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within either half. Extra time is a separate period played after normal time in some knockout matches.
Unless the market name or rules clearly state otherwise, extra time and penalty shootouts are excluded from these markets:
- Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win at the end of normal time.
- Double Chance: two of the three possible normal-time outcomes.
- Total Goals: whether the normal-time goal total is over or under the selected line.
- Handicap: the result after applying the stated goal adjustment to the normal-time score.
- Both Teams to Score: whether each team scores during normal time.
First-half, second-half and other period-specific markets cover only the period stated. Matches with a scheduled duration other than 90 minutes require their own market rules.
When extra time counts
Extra time counts only when the market expressly includes it. A market labelled “including extra time” is different from a standard 90-minute Match Result market. Check whether its settlement also includes a shootout; including extra time does not automatically mean including penalties.
Markets such as “To Qualify”, “Winner of Tie”, “Team to Lift the Trophy” or “Outright Winner” concern progression or the eventual winner rather than just the normal-time score. They may include extra time and penalties according to their specific rules. An outright market concerns the winner of a competition or other stated event.
For example, Team A can draw after 90 minutes and still qualify later. A normal-time 1X2 bet on Team A would lose, while a Team A to qualify bet could win under rules covering the deciding stages.
How penalties are settled
A penalty taken during a match is not the same as a penalty shootout. A scored penalty during normal time counts as a match goal for markets covering that period. A scored penalty during extra time counts only for markets that include that period.
A penalty shootout is a separate method of deciding a tied contest. Under standard penalty shootout betting rules:
- Shootout kicks do not change the result of a 90-minute market.
- Shootout goals normally do not count towards match Total Goals.
- The shootout winner may determine qualification, trophy or outright markets where their rules provide for it.
Dedicated shootout markets follow their own stated conditions.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A cancelled match will not take place as scheduled. A postponed match is delayed, while an abandoned match starts but is stopped before completion. Settlement depends on the published event-completion deadline and the relevant market rules—not simply on the status displayed beside the match.
Completion deadline: [Compliance review required: insert Nana Bet’s confirmed postponement and resumption deadline, including any competition-specific exceptions.]
- Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be void if the event does not take place under the applicable rules.
- Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the match is played within the permitted period; otherwise, they may be void.
- Abandoned after kick-off: unsettled markets may be void if the match is not completed within the permitted period. Markets already conclusively decided may stand where the rules allow.
- Resumed later: check whether existing bets remain valid and whether settlement uses the completed match or another defined outcome.
- Official result changed later: any correction or resettlement follows Nana Bet’s applicable terms.
- Incorrect date, team or market: a listing or technical error requires review under the error provisions; it does not automatically guarantee a refund.
A void bet means the affected selection is treated as having no winning or losing result. For a single bet, this normally means returning the stake. Its treatment within a multiple bet depends on the applicable rules. A “cancelled” status may describe the event or the bet, so check the settlement record.
Live football betting settlement
On Nana Bet live, odds and market availability can change quickly. A submission may face an acceptance delay, remain pending or be rejected. Submitting a bet is not the same as receiving confirmation of an accepted bet.
A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty decision or dangerous attack can trigger an odds change or market suspension—a temporary pause in betting. An unconfirmed bet may be rejected or require confirmation at updated odds. Settlement may wait for verified event data.
Match clocks, scores and streams can be delayed. Do not rely on the live display alone to determine whether a bet was accepted before an incident.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
The odds for an accepted bet are those recorded in its confirmation, subject to applicable error provisions. If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer a revised price or reject the submission.
Check the selection, market, period, stake and odds before confirming, especially in live football. Afterwards, check your bet history for the accepted bet details. A technical or obvious pricing error is handled under Nana Bet’s published rules; it does not automatically make a displayed price binding.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR—the Video Assistant Referee review process—can overturn goals, penalties or disciplinary decisions. Markets may remain suspended until the decision and event data are confirmed. A goal initially shown on screen may therefore not count in settlement.
Football betting settlement rules rely on the confirmed result and the data source specified for the market. Later official corrections, disputed data and any resettlement are handled under the Terms and Conditions. A later change does not necessarily mean every affected bet will be reopened.
Player, cards and corners markets
- Cards: check how yellow and red cards are counted and whether cards to substitutes, bench staff or coaches are included.
- Corners: check whether settlement requires a corner to be awarded and taken. An awarded but untaken corner may be excluded, depending on the market rules.
- Player markets: participation requirements differ. A selection may be void if the player does not appear, but starting, substitute and minimum-participation conditions must be checked.
- Player goals: own goals are normally excluded from the named player’s scoring total unless the rules state otherwise.
Check the specific market rules before placing a bet. Do not assume that all statistical markets use the same counting method.
Examples of football bet settlement
| Scenario | Settlement |
|---|---|
| The score is 1–1 after normal time; Team A wins in extra time. | A 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A loses. The normal-time result is a draw. |
| The match ends 0–0; Team B wins the shootout. | Over 0.5 Total Goals for 90 minutes loses. Shootout goals are excluded. |
| A match is cancelled before kick-off and falls outside the permitted completion rules. | The bet is void if the applicable rules require voiding; a single-bet stake is returned. |
| A live bet is submitted during a VAR review. | It may remain pending, require confirmation at revised odds or be rejected. Check the acceptance record. |
| Team A wins a shootout after a draw, and the bet is Team A to qualify. | The selection wins if the qualification market includes the shootout and Team A progresses. |
